Run flat tires are standard equipment on many BMW models. But it seems like a poor solution to an uncommon problem. For the small chance of getting a flat, you have to deal with road noise, a harsh ride, and high cost of replacements.
Like MANY other BMW owners, when it came time to replace my tires, I opted for standard, non-run flat tires for my car. The difference in ride quality and road noise was night and day and I think ditching the run flats was the single biggest improvement I've made to my car.
Unfortunately, cars that come equipped with run flats usually don't include any spare tire or tools. In this video, I discuss three alternatives to run flats to ensure that you never find yourself stranded.
