Van Niekerk and Lasitskene Light Up Lausanne with Diamond League Records! - Flashback

Back in 2017, athletics fans in Lausanne were treated to a feast of records as Mariya Lasitskene and Wayde Van Niekerk both demonstrated their supreme class in their respective disciplines.

Lasitskene, who was dominating the Road To The Final on her return to action that season, cleared 2.06m to set a new Diamond League record and move into the top five in the all-time list.

A little earlier in the evening, meanwhile, Van Niekerk had shown why he remained the man to beat in the 400m, tearing up the track to notch up an impressive victory against the likes of Isaac Makwala and clock a Diamond League record breaking time of 43.63.

For the huddled masses in Switzerland, it was an Athletissima to remember.
