Ward Off and Roll Back: Core Movement Analysis

Ward Off and Roll Back: Core Movement Analysis Ward Off and Roll Back are two of the eight fundamental techniques of Tai Chi. Ward Off energy is very offensive, or Yang energy. Roll Back is very defensive, or Yin energy. This analysis shows how the use of the core can be defined to explain these two important techniques. Ward Off and Roll Back are demonstrated during the sequence of Grasp the Sparrow's Tail. Grasp the Sparrow's Tail is one of the most important sequences in Tai Chi. It contains within it all of the 8 Fundamental Techniques of Tai Chi. These include Ward Off, Roll Back, Press, Push, Split, Puck, Elbow Strike, and Shoulder Strike. In my videos, I explain how specific rotations of the core are used to perform all of the basic Tai Chi movements. This video is an excerpt from the Tai Chi Code Online Course
