DAILY DOSE | April 9 Israeli elections resulted in poor numbers for the left-wing parties, leaving many worried that traditional parties such as the Labor party, are disappearing for good. Could this be a result of the Blue and White party taking their votes as opposition to Netanyahu's Likud party, or did they completely fail at keeping their base interests alive? Could the Blue and White party have proven to be a failed experiment that killed the left and their own chances of forming a potential coalition? Meretz party's Yariv Oppenheimer and Likud party Supreme Court President Michael Kleiner debate.

Story:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was projected to win a fifth term in office on Wednesday, after nearly complete results from Israel's general election put him in position to form a rightwing coalition, media reports said.

Polling stations closed across the country at 10:00 p.m. local time, with final results expected around noon on Wednesday.

Both Gantz and Netanyahu immediately declared themselves victorious.

While early exit polls projected Gantz's Blue & White alliance to come out on top, revised polls gave Netanyahu the clear path to victory, projecting Likud to win 37 parliamentary seats.

With 96 percent of the vote counted, results showed Netanyahu's Likud and other right-wing parties allied to him with between 65 and 67 seats in the 120-seat parliament following Tuesday's election.
