The unparalleled success of the French diet rests on nutrient dense ingredients and the celebration of food as ritual. When I am in France, I eat rich foods and drink at least a glass of wine a day and yet I lose a few lbs.. So why is that? Just what is the secret to the French diet? French are never too cash-strapped to buy farm-fresh items from open-air markets. They know their producers and understand from where their foods comes. Additionally, shopping at the market restricts their produce purchases to seasonal produce. For example, salmon is a seasonal food in France, because the French prefer fresh and wild fish over farmed or frozen options. Food is about savoring every bite and making dining a ritual. Enjoy!
