Aubameyang Prem's unluckiest - or perhaps most wasteful - star last season

Aubameyang Prem's unluckiest - or perhaps most wasteful - star last season ARSENAL star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should have run away with the Premier League Golden Boot last season.  The Gabon star, 29, scored 22 goals and shared the award with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.  But, Aubameyang somehow managed to miss a big chance - or hit the woodwork - with nearly 30 per cent of his shots, according to Paddy Power Gaming.  The Gunners ace unleashed 94 shots last season, with 23 of those resulting in a shock miss or woodwork hit, for a 28.7 per cent waste rate.  Jamie Vardy, despite having a late-season surge at Leicester, comes in second on the list.  The ex-England man spurned 17 big chances and hit the woodwork three times, accounting for 23.7 per cent of his 79 shots. WOOD YOU BELIEVE IT?  Marcos Alonso and Michail Antonio can perhaps call themselves truly unlucky, rather than wasteful.  Both players hit the woodwork SIX times in 2018-19 while only missing a handful of gilt-edged chances.  Diogo Jota had a superb season at Wolves, but still saw nearly 19 per cent of his shots result in a big miss or woodwork hit.  And Aubameyang's fellow Golden Boot winner Mane sits sixth in the table, missing 11 big chances and hitting the woodwork five times (18.4 per cent total).  Meanwhile, the Premier League fixtures for 2019-20 have been released - and Auba's Arsenal will travel to Newcastle on the opening day.  Reigning champions Manchester City face a trip to London to play West Ham, while Manchester United host Chelsea.  The first game of the season, though, will be Liverpool vs Norwich - on Friday August 9.
