Brilliant prep in the Dragon! IITian Koustav Chakraborty wins Mumbai Mayor's Cup 2019 - B group In 10th grade Koustav Chakraborty made an important career decision. He put chess on the backburner and decided to focus on his academics. Being a brilliant student, he cracked JEE and got admitted to IIT Kharagpur. Knowing the academic burden that students have at India's premier institute, it was almost certain that Koustav would not come back to chess. But in the IIT-Kharagpur campus Koustav found the institute's chess club!

It was like rekindling an old love. Koustav once again started playing chess and kept improving his game as well as finetuning his preparation. At the Mumbai Mayor's Cup 2019, the third year IIT Kharagpur student, showed his best chess and won the first major tournament of his career. After the event we got in touch with Koustav and asked him to show us his favourite game. Have a look at this video as Koustav shows his win in the Sicilian Dragon. You will see how well prepared the youngster is.

We also ask Koustav about how one should manage their chess and academics and he has an important advice for people who are confused.
