If we came back to talk to you someday would you be inclined to talk to us again? Okay.

Today just took me off-guard. I just had no idea. Yeah.

We didn’t really want to tell you we were coming because we didn’t want you to have anxiety about us coming.

I would’ve had anxiety. Yeah.

So we figured the blitz attack was probably the best course today.

Just like the first time we met? Right.

Oh you knew when
you were meeting me!
WATTS: I just didn’t—
yeah—you just didn’t
have all your props
here today.
That’s right. Those
aren’t props, man…those, it's legit—
sophisticated
equipment, right?
It is. That’s right.

Sophisticated
instrument.

I don’t know that that’s gonna happen. We might not ever see each other again.

I didn’t think we would. Honestly.

Your experience is definitely interesting.

Um you yourself are definitely interesting.

We see things in you that we didn’t expect to and we don’t see things in you that we expected to see.

So it’s very interesting to us and I hope that you can take to heart that today was a lot about us learning how to do better.

How to talk to people better, how to do investigations better.

WATTS: I mean like I had never talked to a police officer before or like FBI, CBI, anything like that.

That was all new to me. Like I said, everything that I’ve ever seen as far as like you know the authorities has been on TV.

So I didn’t know like what to expect especially when I got into that interrogation room it just felt like exactly what it looked like.
Just like you know:
You guys poke and
prod and then leave.
Come back in, it's like
give me time to stew,
give me time to like
think. I’m just like, it works.

It just really like—
I don’t know—just
drills more questions
into your own mind
instead of like you
know just staying
in the room just asking questions all the time.

You liked it when we took breaks? You think that worked on you? WATTS: I did.

So you were like watching videos of the girls at one point. Do you remember that? Them giggling and laughing and…

Like when I was in the interrogation room? Yeah.

I don’t remember that. You don’t?

I didn’t—I didn’t—I thought you always had my phone—already had my phone. No.

We didn’t take your phone toward the end—till towards the end. Okay.
That was weird for me. It’s…

I mean it’s…like when you put that picture in front of me? Yeah. That’s what probably made me do it. Because I mean it’s—I didn’t have a signal in there…

…but that's just like—
videos I had on my
phone. I wish I had
taken those videos
out more often
before all that
had happened.

But yeah it’s—that definitely got in my head a lot. I don’t know where that picture was from because I had never seen that picture.

The one we showed
you? Hm mn.

Really?

Yeah I had never
seen CeCe in that dress before.

Really? We talked all about—a lot about that dress. Yeah and you were saying—Was that just you making it up?

I never saw her in that dress.

You were even telling us when she last wore the dress…about the boots and the…

Not that dress. Those are her favorite winter boots and she wears them all summer…

Well the winter boots, yeah, but that white dress is a little different. I’ve never seen that picture.

No ‘cause you talked about buttoning it up.

You said, “I remember because I just—she just wore it the other day and I had to button up the back and…”

Must’ve been a different dress but not that one. Huh!

That—that picture. Was that in North Carolina? Or is that?
I don’t know where that picture came from.

Pulled it off of
Facebook. Shanann’s
Facebook. So maybe
it was when you
weren’t there or
something. Might’ve
been, yeah. So you
don’t recall that huh? No.

‘Cause there’s a lot of pictures I guess I hadn’t seen when they were in North Carolina that my parents have. Like especially like 4th of July and stuff when they had like their 4th of July dresses on and stuff like that I never saw.

Some I had in my phone but that white dress I never—I feel like they were—like she was going to church or something. I just never saw that white dress.

And Bella’s little dress that she had. And her little—her little awkward smile there in the back.

A Fayetteville mom took photos in Myrtle Beach of Shanann Watts, Chris Watts and their two daughters on August 2, 2018, ten days before the murders. The two families met while waiting in line for the bungee trampolines at Myrtle Beach.

“She was wonderful with the girls,” Michele Greer said. “She told me she was expecting; she was very happy.” However, Michele said, Chris seemed standoffish. “He didn’t seem engaged at all,” said Michele. “There wasn’t any affection. He was just kind of standing there.”

In the following audio from the video Chris Watts’ watches in the interrogation room displays sounds from the trampoline park.
