News24 - Man Utd chiefs have changed mind on transfers as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes rebuild
======================================
Manchester United boss Solskjaer is eager to see the Red Devils climb back to the summit of the English game after six years in the wilderness. The Red Devils have lost their way in the years since Sir Alex Ferguson walked away, with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho all falling by the wayside. Solskjaer wants Manchester United back challenging for major honours at the earliest opportunity. It was initially reported the 46-year-old was seeking five transfers in a bid to steer the club back to the summit. But the Manchester Evening News say United chiefs have implied they are ready to sign as many players as they sell. With so many players facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, that could lead to as many as 10 new reinforcements. David De Gea is stalling on a new contract amid interest from Ligue 1 titans PSG. Paul Pogba is attracting interest from Real Madrid. United are keen to get Alexis Sanchez off the wage bill with the former Arsenal star scoring just six times since his arrival in January 2018. Eric Bailly is wanted by Arsenal and has blown hot and cold during his three years at Old Trafford. And that’s just the start. Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo are both eager to make returns to their respective homelands of Italy and Argentina. Ander Herrera is off to PSG, while Antonio Valencia will need replacing too. And question marks are also lingering over the futures of Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata. Regarding incomings, and United have been linked with a variety of players. In defence, Matthijs de Ligt, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kieran Trippier and Kalidou Koulibaly have all been backed to sign. In midfield, Youri Tielemans, Bruno Fernandes and Adrien Rabiot are all on the club’s radar. And United may sign a forward if Sanchez or Lukaku leaves.
