Bethesda Says DOOM's Mandatory Login Was an Error; Will Be Removed in Patch

Fans were disappointed to find the original DOOM Trilogy came with a mandatory login to BethesdaNet and it seems this was an oversight according to Bethesda. An update is in the works which allows players to bypass the process alltogether and play DOOM as if it were 1993.
