Kitenge Tailor, Tairo, Creating The Pattern to Make a Made to Measure Men's Shirt in Tanzania

This video shows our highly-skilled clothing tailor, Tairo, creating the pattern to make a made to measure men's shirt using just a tape measure and piece of chalk.

The main cutting table at our African menswear tailors' workshop in Tanzania, East Africa, is outside in the shade, which is nice and cool. It's fascinating to sit and watch our tailors like Tairo work their magic!

Once Tairo had finished cutting the fabric we took it to a special embroidery tailor who added some intricate detail using gold coloured thread. This type of embroidery is called brocade and is very popular in West African countries when making special and traditional outfits.
