The BEEK must have the time to work the Apiary's effectively & efficiently
Secondly, there is initial equipment cost, (but it will last a long time if looked after)
Any hive that is lost for any reason, (at any time) can be bought up to the same level, as other hives (in the Apiary), in record time

Characteristics within my Apiaries that I look for – gentleness and productivity

I do not like working with aggressive bees, if found, the queen is killed & replaced with a quieter queen from my stock, it generally only takes the hive about 4 to 6 weeks to quieten down
