Generic drugs makeup 90% of prescriptions in the US. Most of us don’t really think twice about taking a generic drug.

Out of the generics sold in the US, approximately 60% of finished drugs are produced at foreign facilities. 90% of the APIs are produced abroad. About 80% of these are produced in China. Brand-name drugs are increasingly being produced outside of the US as well.
