I have actually tried to capture the woodpecker and it's behaviour from late spring to now but failed. In the early spring woodpeckers would just steal a single peanut and fly away.
During late spring the behavior is changed to what you can see in the video.
The strange thing is that this fotage was taken just some week ago and I have seen youngsters with red "hats" that is fading, teenagers you might say.
At an earlier occation I have seen woodpeckers without hats feeding woodpeckers with hats so it is plain that woodpeckers with hats isn't another species which I thought for a while.
