Arsenal survived a second-half scare to beat Aston Villa at the Emirates on Sunday. Unai Emery’s side went down to ten men in the first half having gone 1-0 down to a John McGinn goal. Ainsley Maitland-Niles saw red through two yellow cards in the first 40 minutes, before Nicolas Pepe’s penalty tied up the game. Wesley Moraes gave Villa the lead after an hour, as it appeared that Arsenal were set for a second league defeat of the season. However, with just ten minutes remaining, Arsenal turned the game around thanks to goals from Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, giving them a 3-2 win. But they were lucky to have escaped with the win, after Sokratis appeared to block a Conor Hourihane shot with his arm right in front of goal. Luckily for Arsenal, referee Jon Moss didn’t see the incident clearly enough to give the penalty.
