If you like what you see..... buy me a coffee! This video is a tutorial on how to monitor Transmission downloads in Home Assistant!
Here is a couple of links to get you started....
For starters, you will need to have the Transmission bittorrent installed on your machine.
(3:12) Once you do that, follow along with the video to get it configured to use remotely.
(4:43) Now we are ready to add the transmission component in home assistant.
sudo vi transmission:
host: 10.10.10.20
username: !secret transmission_user
password: !secret transmission_pw
scan_interval: 60
monitored_conditions:
- current_status
- download_speed
- upload_speed
- active_torrents
- paused_torrents
- total_torrents
- started_torrents
- completed_torrents
Once thats added, restart home assistant for the changes to take.
(7:08) Now lets create a notification for when downloads are completed!
sudo vi automations.yaml
- id: Torrent Download Completed Alert
alias: 'ALERT - Torrent Download Completed'
initial_state: true
trigger:
platform: event
event_type: transmission_downloaded_torrent
action:
service: notify.alert_adrian
data_template:
title: "Torrent completed!"
message: "{{trigger.event.data.name}}"
Once thats done, reload automations for the changes to take.
(9:42) You can follow along with the video to see the notification in action.
(10:54) Lets add a panel_iframe so we can have the transmission webpage in our side menu.
sudo vi panel_iframe.yaml
transmission:
title: "Transmission"
url: "
icon: mdi:briefcase-download
Save it one restart Home Assistant one last time.
You show now be able to access the transmission web portal from your Home Assistant side menu.
