This last training session was a significant training session for my coach and myself. This marks one year of working together.
No way it could be easy on him, I’m a meathead, and resistant. The older I get, the more set in my ways I have become.
Now at 36, I compete in the masters division at 102kg / 225lbs
Since 2018 we’ve met up once, sometimes twice a week.
He has completed all my programing, and influenced my life greatly.
I wanted to compete, I wanted to pick heavy things up and set them back down.
How doesn’t?
We’ve been able to break four state records in the first year in the 102kg division.
• Seniors Snatch
• Masters Snatch (35-39)
• Masters Clean & Jerk (35-39)
• Masters Total (35-39)
Looking back at that first training session there wasn’t many words passed, just a lot of funny looks.
That first training session took place when I returned from vacation in 2018. This last one took place right before I left for my annual family vacation in 2019.
In one year we’ve added 52kgs / 114lbs to my overall total.
This last training session was significant because of hitting some big personal records
• 132kg / 290lbs Snatch
• 160kg / 352lbs Clean & Jerk
I’ve become way less resistant to new training, and proudly call Joe H. not only my coach but my friend.
I’m looking forward to competing at the Arnold in 2020 and hopefully nationals.
As masters, I know my lane.....
