Schiff: Sondland testimony 'very important moment in the history of this inquiry

Schiff: Sondland testimony 'very important moment in the history of this inquiry Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff has said that Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland's testimony is "a very important moment in the history of this inquiry".

"It goes right to the heart of the issue of bribery as well as other potential high crimes and misdemeanours," Schiff told reporters. "But we also have heard for the first time that knowledge of this scheme was pervasive."

Schiff made the comments during a break in Gordon's public testimony, in which he detailed a "quid pro quo" push by the president's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to have Ukrainian officials conduct investigations sought by President Donald Trump in return for a White House meeting.

Sondland testified that Giuliani's instructions "reflected President Trump's desires and requirements" and that State Department and National Security Council officials, as well as the president's Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, were "in the loop".
