Shifting from side-to-side is a frontal plane activity that requires abduction and adduction of the femurs.
In the left AIC pattern, our left leg "likes" to abduct and our right leg "likes" to adduct. But these "likes" are obligatory compensations for the position of the left AIC or PEC pelvis above it.
Once neutral, you then need to re-learn how to abduct and adduct using glutes and adductors through purposeful action (non obligatory compensation).
