The PH Navy Upgrades BRP Emilio Jacinto to be More Efficient to Patrol in Western Mindanao Sea

The PH Navy Upgrades BRP Emilio Jacinto to be More Efficient to Patrol in Western Mindanao Sea BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS-35) is now more suitable and able to patrol the waters of Western Mindanao with improvements as a fire control system.

The head of the Philippine Navy's public affairs office, Lieutenant Commander Maria Christina Roxas, said an improved fire control system would allow more efficient operations and the automatic 76mm cannon automatically fired the 76mm Cannon and 25mm secondary weapons, making it better able to handle surface threats. . . .

He, however, refused to explain specifically for security reasons.

The shot control system is designed to help target long-range weapons systems, track and reach their targets.

BRP Emilio Jacinto is the main ship of the three Jacinto class patrol vessels now operating in PN and is considered one of the most modern surface fighters after the larger offshore Gregorio Del Pilar patrol boat.

The upgrade to the fire control system is part of the ongoing PN effort to modernize the ship called "JCPV Phase 3", Roxas added.

Three Jacinto-class patrol vessels are former Royal Navy Peacock-class ships that were acquired by PN in 1997.

These ships are capable of speeds of up to 25 knots and have a gross tonnage of 712 tons.
