UP Chancellor: Colleges should have more say in selection of deans | Headstart Turmoil at the country's premier state university. Several members of the University of the Philippines' academic community sound the alarm over supposed irregularities in the selection process for the deanships of at least four colleges. The university's Board of Regents have said they simply vetted their selections from a list given by the search commitee. But UP Chancellor Michael Tan, representing the concerned colleges' faculty, insists their recommendations had been bypassed, leading to the selection of questionable political appointees.
