Aiko speaks English as a second language (adult Japanese learner of English) and had hard times in the US because of her thick Japanese accent. She realized that learning pronunciation basics was important and took accent reduction lessons, learned linguistics at UCLA, and practiced singing. As her pronunciation improved, she did not have to repeat herself anymore. She enjoys being a Toastmaster, and singing and playing piano and handbells in Hawaii. Now she coaches and guides Japanese clients to improve their English pronunciation in order for them to be more successful in their career and life in the US. Her lessons include breathing, intonation, rhythm, and stress as well as vowels and consonants. Her clients include company executives, business owners, and entertainers.
