In this video I will show how to relieve neck and shoulder tension related to migraine attacks.
What is the difference between Migraine and a Headache? 🤷🏻♀️
The most common type of headache is the classical Tension Headache,
This headache can be situated in the back of the head, forehead or neck and is often bilateral (both sides of the head). Some describe it as a helmet squeezing the head or pressure at the eye/temporal region. The headache usually comes from tension in the neck or shoulder girdle associated with poor posture, prolonged sitting, breastfeeding, overload or stress.
Cervicogenic Headache is a headache originating from the joints in the neck referring pain to the head and/or face. Usually located at the base of the skull. The pain gets worse when moving the head. People often wake up in the morning after sleeping with a different pillow and feel like the neck is restricted.
Then there is Migraine (with or without aura. Aura being defined as having blurred vision/blinking dots in the visual field before the headache occurs).
Normally migraine is followed by light and sound sensitivity, nausea/vomiting, and unilateral pain (on one side of the head). It feels like a pulsating pain and the pain is moderate to severe intensity located in the front of the temporal region of the skull. Gets worse when doing normal activities like walking or climbing stairs.
A Migraine attack can last 4-72 hours.

Possible treatments when you see a chiropractor consists of treating the muscle tension, using stretching techniques, triggerpoint pressure massage, dryneedling, joint mobilizing of neck and shoulders as well as instruction in proper posture and guidance on prevention, such as diet change and exercises.
