Police say they have the situation in Alexandra north of Johannesburg under control. Residents are protesting over mushrooming of shacks and illegal structures in the township. They say they are also fed up with the lawlessness and poor service delivery. Residents say illegal structures are being erected close to the river banks, under electricity pylons posing a dangers to communities. And that garbage is not being collected.
